Macao Airlines Adds Flights to Guilin

Macao Airlines has added the number of flights to Guilin, one of the most popular tourism destinations in south China, from three a week to seven, an airport official said in Guilin on August 2.

With the increase, which took effect Wednesday, Macao Airlines is expected to contribute more to tourism, economic and cultural exchanges between the mainland, Taiwan and Macao.

Macao has served as a place of transit for Taiwan since there is no direct transport links between Taiwan to the mainland.

Since the Guilin-Macao air routes was opened two years ago, Macao Airlines has carried 62,932 passengers.

Guilin, with a history of more than 2,000 years, is renowned for its green mountains, clear water and strangely shaped stone formations. It hosted one million overseas tourists last year, with 40 percent of them from Taiwan.
