China Women Volleyball Team Targets on Championship of WWVGP in HK

Four teams for the "2001 World Women's Volleyball Grand Prix" (Hong Kong Station) between August 3 and 5 arrived in Hong Kong on Wednesday. Chen Zhonghe, head coach of China Women's Volleyball Team, noted that after a collective training in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, all the team members have entered the most favorable condition and are confident in winning the championship of the Prix.

Chen said that the current team is short of necessary experience. The physical quality of the members is not strong enough. The main purpose of the prix is to have a test of their actual strengthen. Chen hopes that all team members can play by their might and main and work hard to become a mature team in a few years time. Introducing the team he said the average height of the team member is1.84 meters and the average age is 22. Being a young team, it lacks of a core player and needs to improve their coordination in passing and attacking.

Chen added that volleyball fans in Hong Kong have always been showing a great concern for China Women's volleyball team. He hopes that the team may ease their minds and strive hard for the championship of this station.

As reported the coming match in Hong Kong is an international one of the largest scale that the new team has ever to encounter since it has come into being. The rest three teams are from Cuba, Brazil and Japan.
