Crystal Palace Boss Threatens to Sell Fan

Crystal Palace manager Steve Bruce has threatened to call in the PFA and FA to sort out the Fan Zhiyi crisis, the South London Press said Wednesday in London.

The Chinese defender will miss half of the club's league matches because of international duty - and the English first division side will have to continue paying his wages.

The 31-year-old signed a vastly improved deal last season but chairman Simon Jordan has already warned him he is risking his future with the club.

And boss Bruce stormed: "It's a crazy situation.

"However good a player Fan is, I don't think it's right that our club should be paying him when he's away for three and a half months.

"I'm going to the FA and PFA about it and it causes me a problem now because I have to look to replace him.

"This is unacceptable for any manager and I cannot wait three and a half months for him - it's as simple as that.

"It is turning into a horrible thing and I'm resigned to the fact that I might lose him on a permanent basis."
