Japan Urged to Remove Korean Names at Yasukuni ShrineSouth Korea has demanded Japan to remove names of Korean victims forced to work for the Japanese troops during the World War II from memorial tablets at the Yasukuni Shrine.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Wednesday said it also demanded the Japanese government to provide a list of those Koreans. It is undesirable to hold memorial services for Korean victims together with Class A war criminals listed at the controversial shrine, said a ministry spokesman. Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has repeated that he will visit the shrine on August 15 on the anniversary of Japan's surrender in 1945. |
