Chinese Army Day Marked in Lusaka

Senior Colonel Liu Shengli, military attache of the Chinese Embassy in Zambia, held a reception here Tuesday to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

Among those present were Zambian Minister of Defense Joshua Simuyandi and other high-ranking officers from the army and air force as well as diplomatic envoys and military attaches of a number of foreign countries here.

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Peng Keyu also attended the reception.

Delivering speeches on the occasion, both Peng and Simuyandi hailed the close ties between the two armies.

They also expressed their hope for furthering mutual cooperation between the two armies for the common purpose of maintaining peace and stability in the world.
