Three South Asian Basketball Teams to Contest in HK

Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia will bring their national basketball teams to Hong Kong in August for the 10th Super Kung Sheung Cup Basketball Invitation Championship, local organizer told a press conference Tuesday.

To better the performance of the Hong Kong team, Canadian veteran coach Timothy Gerard Darling has been with the team at the request by the Hong Kong Basketball Association during the last several months as managing consultant.

"I am quite familiar with the Thai team, but have no idea about teams from Indonesia and Malaysia," said Darling, who had coached Asian runner-up Lebanon team, the Thai team, and other Asian teams before he regained his Hong Kong assignment in May.

"It is hard to predict which team will be the final winner," he added.

The four teams will begin their round robin on August 8, while final match will be on August 12, between the first and the second place team from the first round.
