14 Hostages Freed From Hijacked Bus

Fourteen hostages have been released by 1:00 p.m. Moscow time (0900 GMT) from the bus hijacked by Chechen terrorists Tuesday morning in south Russia's Stavropol region, Interfax cited the regional law enforcement sources as saying.

It is still unknown how many hostages are left on the bus. According to some information, their number ranges from 25 to 35, said the sources.

According to the same sources, there is only one terrorist in the bus. He is armed with a gun, a grenade hanging on his neck and an orange object on his chest that looks like an explosive device.

A Russian special task force Alfa unit has arrived in the Mineralnye Vody airport, where the bus is parked, to prepare for storming the terrorist if needed, the Russian Interior Ministry said.
