Seminar on Sino-US Relations, Taiwan Issue Ends in Shanghai

A seminar on Sino-US Relations and the Taiwan Issue ended in Shanghai Tuesday.

About 20 experts and scholars from Beijing, Shanghai and the United States attended the two-day meeting.

Participants of the seminar, sponsored by the Institute of Taiwan Studies under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, discussed topics related to Sino-U.S. relations and the Taiwan issue.

Participants agreed that the one-China principle and the three communiques governing Sino-U.S. relations are the foundation for developing Sino- U.S. relations. To solve the Taiwan issue in a proper way on such a basis is of great importance to the healthy and steady development of Sino- U.S. relations, and is in the interest of the people of the two countries, according to the participants.
