Thousand Applicants Vie for Official Posts in Beijing

More than 1,000 people have signed up to vie for official posts at the government departmental level in Beijing, according to the Beijing Morning Post.

The applicants, coming from some 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities throughout the country, will compete for a total of 27 posts including highly professional ones like general accountant, general economic manager and general engineer.

Many applicants are already holding decent positions, such as deputy county head and director of an office of a state ministry, with the youngest being 32 years old.

The ongoing open selection of government officials and senior enterprise managers from the society is part of the country's move to reform its personnel system with a view to selecting more young people who are politically qualified and professional competent to leading posts.
