East-west Trade Fair Reports Massive Contract

Participants in a domestic trade fair, which was opened here Saturday, have signed 32 contracts valued at 3.56 billion yuan (429 million U.S. dollars).

The fair, jointly organized by the local governments of northeast China's Liaoning Province and this capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, northwest China, attracted over 1,100 enterprises from Liaoning, the country's traditional industrial base.

It is expected that more than 1,700 cooperative contracts will be signed among investors attending the trade event, involving a total investment of 20 billion yuan (about 2.4 billion U.S. dollars), according to Dong Xiaoshi, official with Liaoning Office of Economic and Technological Cooperation.

The projects will cover various sectors like industrial automation, agricultural industrialization, high technology, infrastructure construction and tourism.

Enterprises from Liaoning have also reached agreements of intention with some Central Asian nations at the trade fair, with the total investment amounting to 453 million yuan (54.6 million U. S. dollars), the offical said.
