Israeli Gunships Hit Gaza Building in RetaliationIsraeli helicopter gunships fired missiles at a building in the Gaza Strip early Saturday morning, which the Israeli army said was used by Palestinians to produce arms, including mortar bombs. The army said it attacked the target near the Khan Younis refugee camp in southern Gaza and that pilots returned to base reporting direct hits. No casualties were reported. "Following the firing of mortar bombs Friday evening at the Gedid settlement, air force helicopters attacked a structure used to manufacture weapons," the army said in a statement. Palestinian witnesses said they saw a helicopter gunship fire three missiles near Khan Younis, but could not locate the impacts of the strikes. Palestinians were reported to fire three mortar rounds at the settlement of Gedid in the Gaza Strip late Friday night. Three residents of the settlement suffered from slight shock as a result, reports said. A terror attack was foiled Friday afternoon in Jerusalem when a bus driver discovered an explosive device packed inside a watermelon. The driver noticed the bomb during a routine check as the bus was being parked outside the Malkha shopping center in Jerusalem. Sappers sent to the site later successfully deactivated the bomb. Also on Friday afternoon, the Israeli army also imposed a curfew on two Palestinian villages near the West Bank city of Nablus after clashes erupted between soldiers and Palestinians on a road leading to a Jewish settlement. The curfew prevented the villagers from leaving their homes with all roads closed to traffic. Early Friday, army tanks shelled Palestinian police posts in the West Bank, after Palestinians shot and killed an Israeli teenager near his home in the settlement of Givat Ze'ev northwest of Jerusalem.
