Reception Marks 30th Anniversary of China-Sierra Leone Ties

A reception was held in Beijing, July 27 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Sierra Leone.

Chen Haosu, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), said the bilateral relations between China and Sierra Leone have withstood tests despite vicissitudes in the international situation.

Chen said the friendly contacts between leaders of both countries have enhanced the mutual understanding and friendship, and boosted political, economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation.

As developing countries, the two nations have long supported each other, Chen said, adding that the Chinese people cherish the friendship and are grateful for Sierra Leone's adherence to the One-China principle and its support to China's national reunification.

Sierra Leone's ambassador to China, Alhusine Deen, said the bilateral ties have been cemented through mutual support, expressing his belief that the two nations will continue to enhance the already excellent relations and fruitful cooperation.

The reception was co-sponsored by the CPAFFC and the Chinese- African People's Friendship Association.
