John Woo's New Movie Windtalkers Moves US President

Windtalkers, a new movie directed by John Woo, caused a stir in the United States for Woo's reputation even before it was formally screened. The movie lets Americans know more about Indians' contributions to the country in World War II. American president Bush July 25 awarded prizes to the four living Navajo code talkers at the White House to show his respects for these heroes.

John Woo and Hollywood movie star Nicholas Cage also paid tribute to the four veteran Navajo code talkers.

Windtalkers centers on the relationships between the Marines and the Navajo codetalkers they were assigned to protect during World War II. The codetalkers transmitted messages using an unbreakable code based on their native language. The gripping climax takes place during the battle of Sai Pan when the Marines fighting the Japanese must safeguard the code at all costs.

Starring in John Woo's films Face/Off and Broken Arrow, respectively, Nicholas Cage and Christian Slater got another chance to cooperate with John Woo.
