China Thursday announced the top ten archeological discoveries of 2000, selected from more than 400 candidates.

The ten best findings include a Paleolithic site in Fujian Province; a prehistoric town in Jiangsu Province belonging to the Longshan Culture; a late Neolithic civilization which dates back 4, 000 years; several ancient tombs in Guangdong, Sichuan, and Shandong provinces; and an ancient official kiln of Ruguan that made porcelain in Henan Province.

The annual nationwide archeological findings assessment has so far selected 100 archeological discoveries over the past 10 years, which archaeologists said fully represent China's efforts and achievements in the field.
