China Still Mongolia's Largest Trade Partner

In the first half of this year, Mongolia's foreign trade with China reached 152 million US dollars. As a result, China is still Mongolia's Largest export trading partner, an official of Mongolia's National Statistical Office said Thursday.

The official said 60.7 percent of Mongolia's exports were shipped to China. Mongolia's foreign trade in the first half of 2001 was 394.1 million dollars, the official said.

Mongolia's exports to China include copper, raw cashmere, hides and skins.

The United States and Russia, the official added, are the second and third largest export markets of Mongolia, taking up 25. 8 percent and 5.9 percent of Mongolia's exports, respectively.

As for imports, Russia remained the biggest exporter to Mongolia, taking a share of 33.6 percent in the imports of Mongolia, followed by China 20.9 percent, and Japan 10.5 percent, the official said.
