Chinese Defense Minister Meets Georgian GuestsDeveloping friendly cooperative relations between China and Georgia is not only in the interest of the two countries, but also beneficial to the global and regional peace and stability, said Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian Thursday.Chi made the remarks in a meeting with Pirtschalaishvili, chief of general staff of Georgian army and the delegation he is leading. The Georgian delegation arrived in China on July 20 for a week long visit. Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and a State Councilor, said that since China and Georgia established diplomatic relations, the bilateral ties have seen healthy and steady progress and the exchanges and cooperation between the two armed forces have witnessed satisfactory development. He extended thanks to Georgian guests for Georgia's adherence to the one-China policy, hoping to continue developing the comprehensive friendly and cooperative relations with Georgia on the basis of mutual respect, equality and non-interference in each other's internal affairs. Pirtschalaishvili offered his congratulations to Chi on China's winning of the bid to host Olympic 2008. He said that China is among the first countries who recognized the independence of Georgia. Pirtschalaishvili also briefed Chi on latest economic and army building in Georgia.
