Chinese Hospital Sets Guinness Record for Weight Loss Treatment

A hospital in Tianjin City, north China, has set a world record for its weight loss treatment program for obese patients.

The Aimin Hospital in Tianjin recently won a Guinness World Record for successfully helping over 1,000 extremely overweight people from China and overseas slim down.

In one case, a young man who weighed 265 kilograms lost 80 kilograms in 100 days.

The head of the hospital, Shi Lidong, combines Chinese traditional herbal medicines with acupuncture to help curb patients' excessive appetite and break up fat. In addition to following strict diets, Shi asks his patients to exercise regularly.

The patients are required to stay at the hospital for the treatment and the monthly cost for the treatment is about 4,500 yuan (550 U.S. dollars) per person.

Two of Shi's patients, an adolescent and an adult, have set Guinness world records for losing high amounts of weight within short periods of time.
