China, Vietnam Move to Crack Down on Crimes

China and Vietnam have made one step further in cooperation in combating crimes as they signed several documents on fight against drugs and criminal offenses Thursday in Hanoi.

These documents, signed by the ministers of public security of the two countries, include an agreement on cooperation in suppressing crimes and maintaining social order, a memorandum of understanding on enhanced cooperation in prohibition of drugs, and an exchange of notes on cooperation in science and technology for police purposes.

Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong, who met visiting Chinese Minister of Public Security Jia Chunwang, said some major results have been achieved in the fruitful cooperation between the ministries of public security of the two countries.

Jia echoed Tran's remarks, saying the ministries of public security of the two countries have intensified contacts and exchange, and remarkable achievements have been made in bilateral cooperation in combating drugs and transnational crimes as well as in police-related science and technology.
