Luciano Pavarotti, one of the world's top tenors, has decided to select Chinese singer, Dai Yuqiang, as his first student from Asia.
Dai left a deep impression on the master in June 2001 when Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras performed together in China for the first time. Dai was among the six Chinese singers who participated in the three-tenor concert, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported Wednesday.
Pavarotti decided to help Dai further his singing career after the concert. Dai received a contract from Pavarotti Tuesday, according to which Dai would be a student of Pavarotti for five years and even have chances to sing together with the super tenor on the same stage.
Dai, who graduated from the Central Drama Institute in 1987, has won prizes in many domestic and international singing contests.
