Chinese President Ends European TourChinese President Jiang Zemin left Valletta, the capital of Malta, for Beijing Wednesday, concluding his three-day state visit to the island country.During his visit in Malta, Jiang met Maltese President Guido de Marco and held talks with Maltese Prime Minister Edward Fenech Adami. They exchanged views on the development of bilateral ties and international issues. Jiang also made extensive contacts with Maltese people from various circles. Since China and Malta established diplomatic relations in 1972, relations between the two countries have enjoyed sound and smooth development and the two sides have conducted fruitful cooperation in all areas. The Chinese president began his tour in Europe on July 15. The trip also took him to Russia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. Jiang's trip to Europe was aimed at raising China's relations with the five nations to a new high in the new century.
