New Air Route Linking Macao and Huangshan to Open

An air route linking Macao and Huangshan, a tourist destination in east China's Anhui Province, will be launched on August 2.

With the approval of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, Boeing 737-300 planes will be used to fly the route between the Macao Special Administrative Region and Huangshan on round-trip flights every Monday and Thursday.

Local officials say the new air route will make it more convenient for tourists from Macao to visit Mount Huangshan, which is about two hours' drive from the city of Huangshan.

Last year, 5.85 million tourists visited Mount Huangshan, which is listed as one of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's World Heritage Sites, bringing in a revenue of 1.8 billion yuan (217 million U.S. dollars).
