China, Lebanon Win after ScrumChina slaughtered Japan 126-67 after Lebanon crashed Chinese Taipei 85-65. China had advanced into the semi-finals while the other berth will be decided after Lebanon vs. Japan game on Wednesday. The two teams fell into a brawl when China's forward Zhang Cheng and Lebanon's guard Walid El Domiati had some shoves after the game, which was won by China 87-76. Zhang Cheng, who kicked Domiati in the scramble, was suspended for two games by the Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC). He sat out Tuesday's and Wednesday's game against Chinese Taipei, and will be available for Friday's semi-finals game. Domiati was warned orally by ABC, said ABC President Cart Men Ky Ching. "Both players have offended ABC's discipline for players' behavior, so we penalized China's No.7, Zhang Cheng, to two game suspension. Lebanon's No.4, Walid El Domiati, also received warns from ABC," Mr. Ching said. South Korea booked a berth in the semi-finals as they defeated Syria 85-71 in Group II while Qatar ousted India 85-60. Winners of Wednesday's match between Syria and Qatar will enter semi- finals. Uzbekistan, who thrashed Singapore 85-65, will face China's Hong Kong for the 9-10 play-off against the United Arab Emirates, who edged out Kuwait 80-77. |
