Top Chinese Legislator Greets Philippine Counterparts Upon Election

Top Chinese legislator Li Peng Wednesday sent congratulatory messages to Sen. Frank Drilon and Rep. Jose de Venecia upon their election as the Philippines' Senate president and speaker of its House of Representatives respectively.

The Sino-Philippine ties have maintained good momentum in recent years, said Chairman Li of the National People's Congress£¨NPC) Standing Committee in his messages. He added that the two countries have made continuous progress in bilateral exchanges and cooperation in all fields.

The frequent exchanges between the two countries' parliaments have contributed to the further development of bilateral friendly cooperative ties, said Li.

He pledged to make joint efforts with his Philippine counterparts for the lasting and stable development of goodneighborly ties between the two nations based on mutual trust, mutual benefit and cooperation.
