Moscow to Develop Partnership with IndonesiaRussia on Tuesday expressed the intent to further develop a Russian-Indonesian partnership with the new Indonesian government, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement, saying it welcomed the transfer of presidential power in Indonesia in accordance with the Indonesian Constitution and the will of the majority of the legislators. Megawati Sukarnoputri, eldest daughter of founding President Sukarno, was sworn in Monday as the fourth Indonesian president after her predecessor Abdurrahman Wahid was sacked by parliament for incompetence. The statement expressed the confidence that relations between Moscow and Jakarta will be further strengthened "in the spirit of partnership and on the basis of the principles laid down by President Sukarno. "Moscow hopes that Indonesia's new president and her government will manage to take all necessary steps to strengthen national unity and stability, and promote the economic revival of the country," said the statement.
