Armed Robber Executed in East China

Zhong Chongming, who was found guilty of robbing a local bank and illegally possessing firearms and ammunition, was sentenced to death and executed Tuesday in Linyi of east China's Shandong Province.

The execution was announced by the Intermediate People's Court of Linyi. Zhong was deprived of political rights and all of his property was confiscated.

A native of Jiangsu Province, Zhong robbed a police officer of his gun on November 4 last year in Linyi City.

On June 18 this year, Zhong rushed with the gun into a branch of the Bank of China in the city, and in the course of trying to rob the bank shot two employees, who sustained serious and minor injuries, respectively.
