Vietnamese Prime Minister Meets Chinese Foreign MinisterVietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai Tuesday met Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan, who is in Hanoi to attend the Eighth ASEAN Regional Forum to be held Wednesday.Khai said the Vietnamese government is satisfied with the smooth development of the Sino-Vietnamese relations. The policy of building long-term, good-neighborly and full cooperative relations oriented toward the future, which was agreed upon by the supreme leaders of both countries, has given a clear direction to the bilateral relations, he said. China's Vice President Hu Jintao had reached a five-point consensus with the Vietnamese side on the implementation of the policy when he came to attend the Ninth National Congress of the Vietnamese Communist Party in Hanoi in April this year, added the Vietnamese prime minister. Khai hailed China's domestic and foreign policies as correct, saying China has scored tremendous achievements in its reform and opening-up. Vietnam is pleased to see an increasing growth of China's overall strength and sincerely hopes that China will play a greater role in international affairs, he said. For his part, Tang said efforts are being accelerated on the follow-up work on the treaty of land borders and the agreement on fishery cooperation between the two countries. He expressed the hope that both sides will cooperate closely and speed up their work to complete the demarcation of land borders at an earlier date.
