National Diseases Control Center to Be Established

China has started to set up a national diseases control center to further strengthen the prevention and control of various diseases in the country, Tuesday 's Health News reports.

The center will be a combination of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine and relevant departments of the Ministry of Health, according to the paper.

The center will be in charge of monitoring hygiene conditions concerning food, occupations, the environment, radiation and schools, and the monitoring of the occurrence, distribution and development rules of various diseases such as epidemic diseases, endemics, verminous diseases, occupational diseases, public nuisance diseases and illnesses among students.

The center will work out measures for preventing and controlling these diseases and, based on its monitoring, provide scientific evidence for drafting relevant laws and regulations.

The center is also in charge of investigating into and handling cases involving poisoning and pollution, the use and management of bio-products, promoting education on health, and technical appraisal and quality authentication of health products.
