Jiang Greets Megawati's Election as Indonesian President
Chinese President Jiang Zemin Monday sent a congratulatory message to Megawati Soekarnoputri on her election as the president of the Republic of Indonesia.
China and Indonesia have made great progress in advancing their friendly exchange and cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, trade, science and technology in recent years, said Jiang in his message.
He recalled that the two countries issued last year a joint statement outlining the direction for future bilateral cooperation.
Jiang pledged to make continuous efforts for the establishment and development of lasting and stable goodneighborly ties with Indonesia based on mutual trust and all-round cooperation.
He also wished Indonesia prosperity.
