HK Airport Passenger Numbers Grow 3.7 Percent

Passenger numbers grow 3.7 percent year-on-year at Hong Kong International Airport in June, according to the Airport Authority's latest monthly statistics released Monday.

Growth in originating passengers was relatively strong compared to that in terminating passengers, due to Hong Kong holiday-makers travelling abroad during the long weekend at the end of the month.

Cargo remained weak with total throughput in June falling by 0. 2 percent, which however was a slight improvement over previous months. Inbound cargo declined 5.1 percent while outbound cargo fell 12.3 percent, reflecting continued subdued sentiment among major trading partners.
