East China Province Seeks Cooperation With Hong Kong

East China's Anhui province has launched 62 projects to seek cooperation with Hong Kong in an effort to develop its service industry.

The projects, released recently at a Hong Kong-Anhui economic negotiation meeting on the service trade, deal with e-commerce systems, commodity circulation, tourism development and others matters.

The 38 tourism projects launched account for nearly two thirds of the total, including developing the Huangshan (Yellow) Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain, and the Taiping Lake scenic area.

Tourism is playing an important role in developing Anhui's service industry as Huangshan, a Mecca for Chinese tourists is situated in the province, according to Xuyan, vice director of Anhui Development and Planning Commission.

In cooperation of commodity circulation with Hong Kong, the Hefei Department Store is to build a 20,000 sq. m. commodity circulation center to enhance commodity distribution to rural areas and small cities nearby.

The local government will offer a series of preferential policies to propel the development of the service industry.
