Protesters Attack Italian and Canadian Embassies in London

About 150 protesters attacked the Italian and Canadian embassies in London overnight, smashing windows and damaging a car, British police said Monday.

The anti-capitalist protesters were dispersed three hours after and three men in their 20s were arrested, a police spokesman said.

The protest, which began outside the Italian embassy on Sunday night, was in response to the killing of an anti-capitalist demonstrator by Italian police during the Group of Eight summit in Genoa, the spokesman.

"A small number of missiles were thrown by the group, causing minor damage to a building near the Italian embassy," he said.

The protesters then marched towards the Canadian embassy, smashing windows and damaging a car.

"There were no major incidents or injuries reported," the spokesman added.
