Chinese Defense Minister Meets Foreign Officers Studying in China

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met Monday afternoon with 63 military officers from 26 Asian, African and Latin American countries.

The officers have completed their one-year study in the Chinese PLA (People's Liberation Army) University of National Defense.

Chi, also a vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said he hopes that the foreign officers would tell their own militaries and peoples about the real China they have seen, and make full use of what they have learned in China, so as to make new contributions to furthering the existing friendship with the Chinese people and armed force.

On behalf of the foreign students, three officers made a speech at the meeting. They spoke highly of the teaching program of the Chinese PLA University of National Defense, saying they have learned knowledge about defense and promoted mutual understanding and friendship.

They said that they will contribute to developing friendship and cooperation between their own countries and China.
