Beijing Promotes Education on National Defense

Authorities in China's capital city of Beijing Saturday held series of activities to promote education on national defense.

One of the themes is to let more people know about the Law on National Defense Education, which was promulgated on April 28.

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian, Jia Qinglin, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing, participated in the activities along with more than 200,000 people.

The military presented a number of weapons captured as trophy in the War of Resistance Against Japan and the War of Liberation in the 1930s and 1940s to the national defense education bases in Beijing.

The bases and museums also received video compact discs, models, and documents on national defense education.
