Vice-President Visits Tibetan Farmers

Vice President Hu Jintao visited Tibetan farmers and herdsmen living in a village in Todlung Dechen County in the suburbs of Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, Friday afternoon.

He visited the family of Tibet farmer, Wangdyu Lobu. Hu chatted with Lobu and was deeply concerned about the farmer's life.

After learning that the family has 0.3 hectares of ploughland and a small grinding mill with total annual income for the family of 7,000 yuan (about 843 US dollars), Hu encouraged the farmer to speed up economic development by making use of agricultural technology and rearranging business structure.

Hu also was concerned with the farmer's difficulties in life and the schooling of his children.

While visiting another farmer's family in the village, Hu wished them a more happy and wealthy life in future.

The official also presented the farmers portraits of Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin, Chinese leaders of three generations.
