Abu Sayyaf Leader's Brother to Be Arraigned

Terrorist group Abu Sayyaf leader Khaddafy Janjalani's brother Hector Janjalani is to be arraigned in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines Friday morning for kidnapping and murder charges.

Tight security measures were in place to thwart parties who are reportedly planning to rescue Hector Janjalani, the ABS-CBN news channel reported.

Hector Janjalani will immediately be brought back to Manila after the proceedings.

The Zamboanga Justice Hall will also hold the arraignment of 14 suspected Abu Sayyaf supporters arrested in the recent government crackdown.

Another Janjalani brother, Muslim preacher Ustadz Abdurajack Janjalani who founded the Abu Sayyaf in early 1990's, was killed in a battle with government troops in 1998.

There are still more than 20 hostages, including at least two Americans, being hold by Khaddafy Janjalani and his followers in Basilan, south to Zamboanga.
