Photo Album Displaying Japanese Aggression PublishedA photo album has been published as a memorial to over 26,000 innocent Chinese people, killed by Japanese aggressor's bombs some 60 years ago in Chongqing, southwest China. The album on the brutal and inhuman bombings by Japanese aggressors, published by the Chongqing Publishing House, consists of hundreds of documentary pictures, which present vivid images of those bitter days. Between February 1938 and August 1943, 9,513 Japanese bombers dropped a total of 21,593 bombs on the mountainous city, killing 26,000 innocent civilians and destroying 17,608 houses. Historians describe the bombing as one of the catastrophes in the war history of humanity. Being the provisional capital of China then, Chongqing was a natural target for Japanese invaders to demonstrate their military strength. Japanese warlords resorted to various types of bombings, trying to realize their attempt to destroy Chinese people's fighting morale once and for all. The album proves that what were depicted by Japanese textbooks as glorious acts were actually the most notorious crimes of strangling the national independence and infringing upon the sovereignty of China, and slaughtering the innocent Chinese people. |
