Cliff Paintings Discovered in Tibet No-man Zone

A scientific expedition team recently conducted a survey in north Tibet's no-man zone. They discovered a large group of rock paintings, which mainly reflect religious and hunting activities in the north of Tibet. Those rock frescos betray an inseparable relation between religion and local history. Pictured here is a mural--a man on donkey.

Nature Reserve in Tibet's No-man Zone

Since Tibet Qiangtang (Changtant) Nature Reserve was established in the no-man zone in north Tibet, which covers an area of 200,000 square meters and with altitude of 5,000 meters on average in 1990s, Tibetan antelopes and other wild animals have been well protected. The reserve has become the largest wild animal paradise and the highest one in the world. Pictured here are the Tibetan kiangs under the first-class protection by the state.

Stadium Got Facelift to Host World Cup 10-Strong Match

To host of the 10-strong match of 2002 world cup qualification in Asia zone, Shenyang Wulihe Stadium has taken on a new look after several months' renovation. The stadium is the second one in China equipped with terrestrial heat system, and so far the ground in the stadium has been covered up with lawns. New Cleaning Ship Put into Use on Yangtze

Workers were seen cleaning up the water surface of the Yangtze River on July 18 by using an automatic cleaning ship. The ship is able to remove about 150 cubic meters of floating refuse a day. This will help improve the environment of the Yangtze and its main tributary Hanjiang River.

Golden-Headed Lion Tamarin Gives Birth to a Cub

Golden-headed lion tamarin has lately given birth to a cub in Shanghai after her first baby in 2000. The golden-headed lion tamarin belongs to the family tree of higher primates. Chinese President Holds Talks With Belarussian President
