Non-local Companies Increase Investment in Shanghai
The latest statistics show that total investment in Shanghai by non-local companies in the first six months of the year increased by 90 percent compared with the same period last year.
Other statistics from the Shanghai Bureau of Industry and Commerce indicate that 397 companies made 6.6 billion yuan in investment, 30 percent among which dealt with wholesale and retail business. Guangdong companies invested over three billion yuan, and their total sales volume exceeded ten billion yuan.
It is said altogether that over 15,000 companies have settled in Shanghai, many of which have even moved their headquarters there. They have contributed eight percent of Shanghai's annual GDP in recent years.
Shanghai's preferential policies, such as exempting those companies from the verification of registered capital as well as it being mainland China's economic, financial and trade center have caused great interest among non-local companies.
