Fireworks Show Marks Tibet's Peaceful Liberation Anniversary

Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao attended an event featuring a fireworks show, along with a song and dance performance marking the 50th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet at the square in front of the Potala Palace Thursday evening.

Hu, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee and vice- chairman of the Central Military Commission, is heading a central government delegation for celebrations for the anniversary in Tibet.

Titled "Holiday Night," the fireworks show and performance highlighted the great development in Tibet following the region's peaceful liberation.
