East China's Jiangsu Province Thursday announced that it will inject 119 million yuan this year and next year into building Tibet.
According to a spokesman for the Jiangsu delegation attending the 50th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet, the aid fund will be used for an ecological park, a kindergarten in Lhasa, an auditorium and a number of other projects. The projects will soon start with the initial architecture designs already finished.
Jiangsu Province is one of the provinces and municipalities designated by the central government to aid the Tibet Autonomous Region. It has provided 325 million yuan (39 million U.S. dollars) for infrastructure construction in the region over the last seven years.
In addition to financial support for the less economically developed region, Jiangsu also sent more than 100 cadres to work temporarily in Tibet, among others.
