Top Lawmaker Meets ROK Guest
Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, met Thursday with Kim Byung O, secretary-general of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (ROK).

Li said bilateral relationship between China and ROK has developed smoothly since 1992 when the two countries established diplomatic relationship. Improving Sino-ROK friendly relations will not only be in line with interests of both peoples, but also help maintain regional peace, stability and promote regional development. Contacts between parliaments also have been on the rise over recent years.

Kim said that ROK leaders and people highly praised Li's successful visit to ROK, not long ago, which will continue to strengthen the relationship between two countries and two parliaments.

Kim conveyed to Li the greetings of ROK President Kim Dae-jung and ROK Speaker Lee Man-Sup.

Li expressed his greeting to Kim Dae-jung and Lee Man-Sup and welcomed them to visit China at the time of their convenience.

Kim is here as a guest of He Chunlin, secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee.
