Symposium Held on International Financial Center Building
Several hundred economists gathered in China's largest business and commercial center Thursday to discuss how to develop the city into an international financial center.
During a one-day symposium, delegates from home and abroad discussed world financial situation in the new century and necessary measures Shanghai should take to build itself into a financial center upon WTO entry.
The participants also touched upon other topics, including the legal system and capacity building in financial centers, the development prospects of China's banking industry, and venture capital operations.
The symposium was jointly sponsored by the Chinese International Study Association for cross-cultural Human Resources Development, the International Financial Center Association and the Shanghai Institute for International Finance.
