Li Lanqing: Four Tasks Necessary For Beijing 2008 Olympics

Chinese Vice Premier Li Lanqing July 18 met staff members of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee (BOBICO) and conveyed the cordial greetings of the Central Committee of the Party and the State Council to them for their exertions and achievements made in the past two-years. He also pointed out that to ensure an excellent Olympiad, we must make great efforts on the following four aspects:

1. Step up urban infrastructure constructions, such as building gyms and transportation facilities with world advanced technologies to ensure a world first-rate Olympic project;

2. Strengthen environmental protection on air and water pollution and tame the wind and sandstorm so as to make the sky bluer, water more limpid, trees more luxuriant, and scenery more beautiful in Beijing.

3. Promote cultural and ideological progress, enhance ideological and moral quality of the Beijing citizens and intensify foreign language studies in order to make international exchanges easier;

4. Upgrade athletic levels and moral quality of athletes by way of hard and scientific training for wining still greater achievements in 2008 Olympics.
