Mayor Liu Qi Demands Adjusting Plans to Host Best Games

Beijing Mayor Liu Qi demands all municipal government departments adjust plans to cater to standards of hosting best Olympic games. He stressed repeatedly that we must fulfill our commitments.

A mayor general office meeting was held in the afternoon of July 17 after China won the bid. The meeting discussed two plans drafted by related departments on high-tech development and city traffic problems set forth in the "10th Five-year Plan". Liu said that the two plans should be readjusted according to our goal to host best events in Olympics history.

Liu said that we must set on "Olympics Concept" and work out an "Olympics Strategy". All government departments in Beijing should adjust their plans to abide by the targets put forward in the Olympics Report and fulfill our commitments and comply with the requirements to host most magnificent Games in history.

He said that Beijing would invite most excellent talents to help make plans and prepare for the 2008 Olympiad. Only when we get talents can we succeed.
