China-Moldova Bilateral Trade Growing Fast

The China-Moldova bilateral trade volume registered a record high in the first five months this year to over 14 million U.S.dollars.

According to the statistics released here Thursday by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), China 's exports to Moldova during the period reached 1.5 million U.S. dollars while the imports, about 13 million U.S.dollars.

Last year, the trade volume between the two countries was about 8 million U.S.dollars.

An official with the MOFTEC told Xinhua that the rapid growth is a result from China's large imports of steel products and he said that the momentum will go on in the next half of the year. The MOFTEC official noted that the two countries have signed agreements on economic and trade cooperation, on investment protection, on the avoidance of double taxation and on animal and plant quarantine cooperation, laying a legal foundation for the bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
