Guangzhou Exposition Reports Good Results

The 2001 Guangzhou Exposition, the ninth of its kind, closed Tuesday in the capital of south China's Guangdong Province, with transactions valued at 2.63 billion yuan.

During the six-day event, hundreds of domestic and overseas enterprises displayed their famous name-brand products and hi-tech developments at more than 930 booths covering a total exhibition area of 20,000 square meters.

The annual exposition was jointly sponsored by the city government of Guangzhou and the China Foreign Trade Center (Group).

Some 183 economic and technology cooperation projects were signed with an investment of 11.38 billion yuan (1.37 billion U.S. dollars), including 542 million U.S. dollars from overseas investors.

Over the past eight years, the exposition has attracted a total of 1.42 million business people and visitors, reaching an overall trade value of 10 billion yuan (1.2 billion U.S. dollars) of contracts.
