Two Saudis Beheaded for Kidnap And Sodomy of Child

Two Saudis convicted of kidnapping a child whom they sodomised, while drunk, were beheaded by the sword on Tuesday, the interior ministry announced.

Anbar bin Mohammad bin Anbar and Khaled bin Madallah bin Saleh were beheaded in the western Saudi town of Dammam.

According to an AFP count, these two decapitations bring to 62 the number of executions in the Saudi kingdom since the beginning of the year.

Saudi Arabia applies a strict version of Islamic Sharia laws, imposing the death penalty for murder, rape, apostasy, armed robbery, drug trafficking and repeated drug use.

In 2000, at least 113 people were executed in the conservative Gulf kingdom that is home to Islam's holiest sites.
