Taliban Appreciates Annan's New Proposal on Lifting Sanction on Afghan Airlines

Afghan ruling Taliban's Foreign Minister Mawlavi Wakil Ahmad Mottawakel has sent a letter to Kofi Annan, secretary-general of the United Nations welcoming his realistic position on lifting of sanctions on Afghan Airlines flight, news reaching in Islamabad said on Tuesday.

Mottawakel said in the letter that Taliban has invited time and again the U.N. and international Communities to consider the ground realities, pains, hardships and problems of Afghan people which have been emanated from war and drought and help resolve their problems.

The Afghan's flights which rendered multipurpose services including Haj pilgrimage, postal services and transferring of passengers, patients, primary goods, medicine and prisoners from Gulf states, were suspended due to these "unjust sanctions," said the Minister.

He expressed "good sentiment" to Annan for his present position for the exemption of sanctions on Afghan Airline's flights, saying removal of their repairing problems is a positive and proper step for these sanctions have negative effects on the people living conditions.

He hoped that in the light of these facts the member states of the U.N. would support Annan's stance and assist Afghanistan for the removal of humanitarian problems.
