Canada Should Blast US Missile Defense, Paper saysCanada should get off the fence of US missile defense as China and Russia show disapproval of the US plan and has reaffirmed their support for the 1972 Anti- Ballistic Missile (ABM), the largest circulated newspaper The Globe And Mail said in its editorial Tuesday."China and Russia have fully and formally signaled their disapproval of the U.S. plan to develop its experimental missile defense program, now it is Canada's turn to get off the fence", the editorial said. It quoted Russian President Putin as saying that the U.S. justification for developing the missile defense program makes no sense. "Washington says it needs an effective defense against rogue states, but Putin said there is no evidence that these countries have the technology to be a threat to the United States," the editorial said. "Canada has all the evidence it needs to strongly protest against such a reckless, and unnecessary, project on the grounds that it will clearly undo three decades of arms-control accomplishments," the paper noted.
