DPRK, France to Boost Bilateral Relations

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and France will further enhance bilateral ties through inter-governmental contacts and dialogues, the official Korean Central News Agency said Tuesday.

The news agency quoted a press communique as saying that Ho Jong, a special envoy of the DPRK government and ambassador of the Foreign Ministry, and Dominique Girard, director of Asia and Oceania department of the French Foreign Ministry, held talks on bilateral ties in Paris Monday.

During the talks, both sides noted that further development of their relations would promote the peace and reconciliation process on the Korean Peninsula and would subsequently contribute to the peace and stability in Asia and the world as a whole.

A delegation of the French Foreign Ministry led by Girard will visit the DPRK by the end of September or early October.

France and Ireland are the only European Union members that have not established diplomatic relations with the DPRK.
